15th district cops hurt in crash

Two 15th district police officers were hospitalized on March 20 after their patrol wagon collided with a car, rolled spectacularly and came to rest on its roof, wedged between a civilian vehicle and a utility pole.

A civilian female motorist also sought hospital treatment. None of the injuries were considered life threatening.

According to a published report, the police van was traveling northbound on Harbison Avenue at about 8:45 a.m. with its domelights flashing and sirens blaring when it collided with a Toyota car that was traveling eastbound on Cheltenham Avenue.

The car reportedly struck the driver’s side of the van.

The two officers in the van were treated at Aria Health-Torresdale, reportedly for neck and back pain, and released. The civilian driver was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, reportedly for observation. Her condition is not known. Police have not released the identities of the officers or woman involved.

No criminal charges have been filed. ••
