Two injured, one critically, after robbers invade home in Frankford

Two men were hospitalized, including one with a critical gunshot wound, after two masked gunmen invaded a Frankford family’s apartment on March 28.

Philadelphia police were called to the 1900 block of Fillmore St. just before 4 a.m. in response to a report of a shooting. A 31-year-old woman reported to officers that she, her ex-boyfriend and her father were awakened by the loud noise of two men breaking through the front door.

One published news report stated that two children, ages 8 and 12, and a third man, age unknown, also were in the home.

One intruder carried a 9mm pistol and the other a shotgun, the woman said, according to police. The robbers demanded money but the victims said they had none.

The robbers then bound the woman’s father with zip ties and gagged him. Police did not disclose his age.

The intruders next shot the woman’s ex-boyfriend, 39, once in the back, grabbed $260 cash from the victims and fled on foot into the nearby Whitehall Apartments public housing complex, police said.

The gunshot victim was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital in critical condition, while the woman’s father was taken to Aria Health-Frankford and treated for symptoms related to a “panic attack,” police said.

The names of the victims have not been released.

One robber was described as black, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 190 pounds and 20 to 35 years old. He wore a black mask and black gloves. No clothing description was provided.

A second man was described as black, 5 feet 9 inches tall, medium build and 20 to 35 years old. He wore a black mask and black gloves. No clothing description was provided.
