Tacony hit-and-run suspect still at large

A hit-and-run driver remains at-large after striking a bicyclist on a Tacony Street on April 3, injuring the 17-year-old victim critically.

Police have not released a description of the motorist or the vehicle. The cyclist was crossing the 4500 block of Tyson Ave. in a northbound direction at 10:17 p.m. when the eastbound vehicle struck him, said Officer Jillian Russell, a Philadelphia police spokeswoman.

The car, described only as dark in color with tinted windows, did not remain at the scene.

The victim was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale and was listed in critical condition on Tuesday.

One published report, citing an undisclosed police source, stated that a witness saw the victim texting. Call the accident investigation division at 215–685–3180 to report information about the crash. ••
