A man’s visit to a Mayfair convenience store became a frightful encounter with a knife-wielding thug early last Thursday as video cameras filmed the episode.
Now, Philadelphia police seek help in identifying the robber and his suspected accomplice.
The victim parked his minivan alongside the 7-Eleven at 2900 Cottman Ave. and entered the store shortly after 2:30 a.m. Within a few seconds, a car occupied by at least two men pulled up beside the victim’s van.
A passenger exited the car, approached the van, opened its door and leaned inside in an apparent search for something. Moments later, the victim emerged from the store and returned to his vehicle, only for the lead assailant to corner him and point a knife to his throat, police said.
The victim dropped some unspecified items to the ground that the armed robber retrieved before returning to his waiting car and fleeing south on Brous Avenue.
In-store cameras filmed the robber along with his suspected accomplice just before the crime.
The man with the knife was described as white, 25 or 26 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 160 pounds and clean-shaven. He wore a gray T-shirt with “MOORES INLET” printed on the front, gray sneakers, jeans and a black baseball cap. He carried a silver knife.
The second man was described as white, 25 or 26 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 160 pounds, with dark brown hair, a slight beard, a blue T-shirt, blue jeans, a white belt and blue sneakers.
Their car was a red or burgundy sedan, small or medium in size, with a Pennsylvania tag of HSS-7257.
