Police, fire football team to play on Saturday

Northeast Philadelphia residents will get a chance to see Philadelphia’s police and fire football team on their home turf after all.

This Saturday’s game between the Philadelphia Blue Flame and the San Diego Enforcers has been moved to Northeast High School’s Charlie Martin Stadium. Originally, it was to be held in Wildwood, N.J.

The Enforcers are a team of San Diego-area police officers. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. Admission costs $5 at the gate. All proceeds will benefit Blue Flame charities including the Police Survivors Fund, the Firefighter Widows Fund and the Sgt. Patrick McDonald Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The Blue Flame, a non-profit organization, has donated more than $226,000 to charities since its founding in 2004. The team is comprised of professional police, firefighters and paramedics from Philadelphia and surrounding communities. It competes in the National Public Safety Football League. ••
