Teenagers stabbed at Bustleton church carnival

Three teenagers may have gone to the annual Maternity BVM parish carnival on Friday night hoping to grab a brass ring. Instead, they got brass knuckles and a knife, Philadelphia police say.

Several would-be robbers jumped the unsuspecting youths at about 10 p.m. at the carnival on the 9300 block of Bustleton Ave.

At first, the three suspects demanded money. The victims apparently refused and a fight broke out. One attacker pulled out a knife, while a second gripped brass knuckles.

One victim suffered a stab wound of the neck, was taken by paramedics to Aria Health-Torresdale and admitted in stable condition. A second victim suffered a “superficial” cut to the left calf, while a third victim ended up with a “superficial” cut to the left forearm along with a swollen left eye, police said.

The second and third victims were taken to Aria Health-Torresdale by private vehicle, evaluated and released.

Nothing was stolen in the melee. The three robbers fled the carnival on foot. One was described as white, 16 years old and wearing a gray T-shirt and tan khaki pants. A second assailant was described as white, 15 years old and wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans. The third victim was described only as a white male. ••
