The 97th annual Lawncrest 4th of July Celebration will take place next Wednesday, with a rain date of July 7.
The theme is A Community United.
A parade will begin at 9 a.m. at Rising Sun Avenue and Martin’s Mill Road and proceed south to the Lawncrest Recreation Center at Comly Street. The grand marshals will be former teachers and nuns at St. William School, which closed for good on June 15.
All alumni and former students of St. William and current students at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School are invited to march in the parade. They should gather at 8:30 a.m. at the starting point.
Activities will take place at the recreation center.
There will be an American flag-raising ceremony, a flea market/craft show, car show, children’s rides, food court, live bands, magic show, drill teams and fireworks at dusk.
The dunk tank is expected to be a popular feature. Balls are three for $1.

Randy Brubaker, Crescentville United Methodist Church (1–1:30 p.m.); Ron Pleis, cubmaster, Pack 563 (1:30–2 p.m.); members of Lawncrest Lions (2–2:30 p.m.); the Rev. Ben Krey, Prince of Peace Church (2:30–3 p.m.); members of Attack Mode Boxing Club (3–3:30 p.m.); and Jim Ritvalsky, retiring Lawncrest Recreation Center leader (3:30–4 p.m.).
