Somerton bank robber on the loose

The FBI and Philadelphia police seek the public’s help in identifying a masked man who robbed a Somerton bank last Thursday morning.

At 9:26 a.m., the suspect entered the First Niagara Bank at 11730 Bustleton Ave., approached a teller and presented a note demanding money and stating that he had a bomb.

The teller gave the bandit an undisclosed amount of cash. He fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Authorities describe the suspect as about 6 feet, 3 inches tall; thin; and in his mid-30s. He wore a black scarf across his face, a black baseball cap with “PHILLY” embossed across the front and a black trench coat. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Call the FBI at 215–418–4000 or the police at 215–686-TIPS to report information about the case. Tips may be sent via text to PPD TIP or 773847.
