On July 2 at 9:02 p.m., the unknown suspect followed the victim into an elevator at the Church Street Station on the Market-Frankford Line. As the door closed behind them, the mugger pushed the victim into a corner, grabbed him by the throat and searched his pockets. The crook stole the elderly man’s wallet containing $500 cash and identification.

When the elevator reached street level, the door opened and the mugger fled in an unknown direction.

Authorities have not released information about any injuries suffered by the victim. He remained standing throughout the attack.

The suspect was described as white or Hispanic and about 6 feet tall. He has a thin or medium build and wore a black baseball cap, white t-shirt, black shorts, white ankle socks and black sneakers.

Call Northeast Detectives at 215–686–3153 to report information about the robbery. ••
