Police say an argument between neighbors was the motive behind the shooting death of a Castor Gardens man near his home on Sunday, but the subject of the dispute remains a mystery.
Gunfire erupted on the 1300 block of Wells St. at about 4:20 p.m. Police arrived to find Donald Mines, 19, a resident of the block, lying in the street with two gunshot wounds of the chest, said Officer Tanya Little, a police spokeswoman. Medics pronounced Mines dead at the scene at 4:35 p.m.
Detectives identified George Cobb as the alleged shooter and arrested him later that day at Police Headquarters. Cobb, 25, of the 1400 block of Fanshawe St., has been charged with murder. ••
