Ride to remember Flight 93 victims

The Brothers For Flight 93 invites motorcycle riders to join the sixth annual Memorial Ride to the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, United Airlines Flight 93 crash near Shanksville, Pa.

This year’s ride will be on Sept. 1. The pre-registration fee is $40. Day-of registration costs $50.

Riders will meet outside Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility, 7901 State Road, starting at 6:30 a.m. Ceremonies will start at 7:30, with the 250-mile ride to follow.

There will be four rest and fuel stops along the Pennsylvania Turnpike route. There will be a visit to the crash site, where riders will be able to see the first phase of construction of the permanent national Flight 93 memorial.

A barbecue dinner will be at Days Inn of Somerset. Rooms have been reserved for those wishing to stay overnight. Call the hotel at 814–445–9200 and mention Brothers of Flight 93.

Riders will return to Philadelphia on Sept. 2.

The first 100 to register will receive a commemorative T-shirt, patch and pin. All proceeds will benefit the ongoing construction of the permanent Flight 93 memorial as well as youth scholarships in Northeast Philadelphia.

Brothers For Flight 93, a registered non-profit organization, is also accepting donations of fuel cards, stationery, printer paper, printer ink, blank T-shirts, printing services, door prizes and money. All donations are tax deductible.
