A Mayfair man is facing federal charges that he took pornographic photos of a minor and put them on the Internet to advertise prostitutes.
According to an Aug. 30 federal indictment, Enoch Smith, 35, recruited young females to work as prostitutes, and he advertised his business on the Web.
“These advertisements featured pictures of the prostitutes, either scantily clad, or topless with their hands covering their breasts, the price and a phone number to call to arrange a meeting with the prostitute,” the indictment stated.
Smith, also known as Idris or Drees, photographed the nude genitals of a minor for the purpose of putting the photo on the Internet on April 13, 2011, the indictment charged, which is a violation of federal laws.
He faces life imprisonment, if convicted, according to Patty Hartman, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Smith also is in trouble with local authorities on state prostitution charges.
He was arrested on promoting prostitution charges on June 30, 2011. He is in custody in Bucks County Prison, awaiting a Nov. 5 trial in Room 1001 of the Criminal Justice Center, 13th and Filbert streets. ••
