City homicide detectives have several unanswered questions regarding the shooting death of an unidentified man who was found in woods next to a Northwood department store early Monday.
Investigators are trying to figure out his name, who shot him in the head, how he ended up in the woods and why he may have been wearing women’s clothing.
For now, police are calling him “John Doe.” A police department spokeswoman, Officer Tanya Little, described him only as a black male, but did not have information about his attire. One published report, citing unspecified police sources, said he was wearing ladies’ garments.
Patrol officers found him near the 1100 block of Adams Ave at 5:12 a.m. while responding to a “hospital case.” The victim was unresponsive and had a gunshot wound of the head. Police did not find a gun nearby, Little said.
Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. ••
