It was a violent week in Frankford.
At least four men were wounded by gunfire, while another was robbed and reportedly abducted at gunpoint, all from Sept. 1 to 7 and within a three-block radius.
On Sept. 1, Philadelphia police were called to the 4800 block of Jackson St. inside the Whitehall Commons public housing complex in response to a report of a shooting. They found a 22-year-old man lying on the ground with two wounds of the stomach.
He was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition, but was able to report that two unknown men had attacked him. The victim told investigators that one of the men fired the shots then passed the handgun to the second man as they fled on foot.
Police did not release the victim’s name or latest medical condition.
Shortly after the shooting, a 16-year-old boy arrived at the emergency room at Aria Health-Frankford with a wounded leg. The youth, whose mother drove him to the hospital, reported that he was walking along Harrison Street near Whitehall when he heard four gunshots and felt pain in his leg, police said.
Detectives are still investigating the circumstances of the incident, but have obtained arrest warrants for three men, including Khalid Boyd, 19; Laquan Hayes, 19; and Terrance Smith, 29.
A motive is not known.
Another shooting occurred nearby on Sept. 5 at about 5:41 p.m. The gunfire occurred on the 5100 block of Glenloch St., but the victims turned up elsewhere.
Patrol officers found a 20-year-old man on the 5100 block of Jackson St. with wounds of the back, chest and arm. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in “extremely critical” condition. Police have not released his name or latest medical condition.
The officers found a second gunshot victim at 6:28 p.m. on the 5100 block of Charles St. He had wounds of the stomach and hand and was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale in stable condition. Police described him as uncooperative with their investigation.
No suspects have been identified. The motive is unknown.

Meanwhile, police believe that robbery was the motive for a home invasion and abduction on the 5100 block of Walker St. at 4:50 a.m. Friday.
A man reported that two robbers wearing black clothing and masks burst into his home at gunpoint. The bandits stole about $3,000 from him. The victim was not injured, police said.
According to one published report, which cited an unidentified police source, the robbers bound the victim’s hands and wrapped his face in duct tape, transported him to South Philadelphia and dumped him near 24th and Bainbridge streets.
Police have not named suspects in the case. ••
