Man breaks into Northeast High, turns himself in

Police have arrested a man they say broke into Northeast High School in July, walked around and left.

James Talucci, 20, turned himself over to Northeast Detectives on Sept. 1 in connection with a July 17 burglary at the Cottman Avenue school, police said Monday. Police last month released surveillance footage of a young man breaking into the school and walking through the building. Police said nothing was taken but the burglar left behind a flashlight and a baseball bat.

The video drew tips from the public, and police obtained a search warrant for Talucci’s Castor Gardens home. He wasn’t home when police arrived Sept. 1, said Sgt. Dennis Rosenbaum of Northeast Detectives, but he later turned himself in.

Rosenbaum said Talucci was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, criminal trespass and defiant trespass. ••
