Lynn’s bail denied

Monsignor William Lynn must remain behind bars while he appeals his child endangerment conviction.

Pennsylvania Superior Court denied the monsignor’s request for bail on Oct. 17, according to online court records. The former archdiocesan secretary for clergy has been incarcerated since he was convicted in late June in Common Pleas Court.

A jury found Lynn guilty of one count of endangering children for allowing a priest whom he knew to be a molester to continue in his ministry. He was acquitted of another endangerment charge and conspiracy. Lynn was sentenced to three to six years in prison.

The monsignor’s attorneys filed notice of appeal in August and, in September, asked the appeals court to reconsider his bail request, which had been denied in the lower court. ••
