Reward posted in transgender murder

A $25,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the murder of a transgender woman who was found dead in woods behind a Northwood store.

Kyra Cordova, 27, known to many as Kyra Kruz, was found shot to death shortly after 5 a.m. on Sept. 3 in woods on the 1100 block of Adams Ave. Police said she had sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe she was killed where her body was found. No one has been arrested in connection with the crime.

The woods are behind a department store in an area that is in Northwood, where that neighborhood ends and Juniata begins. Frankford Avenue is a few blocks to the east.

Friends and family said they didn’t know where Cordova was residing at the time of her death.

The Citizens Crime Commission is administering a $5,000 reward posted by the Justice 4 Kyra Coalition and a $20,000 reward posted by the city.

Information should be called to the Crime Commission tip line at 215–546-TIPS or the Philadelphia Police tip line at 215–686-TIPS. ••
