Bensalem police officers are knocking on doors near the township’s waterways to advise people to evacuate.

On Monday afternoon, Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo said the township, which declared a state of emergency, is not telling everyone who live near the Poquessing, Neshaminy and Delaware to leave their homes. However, anyone who lives in flood-prone areas is getting the township’s message, he said. DiGirolamo declared the township in a state of disaster emergency on Friday.

Philadelphia’s mayor, Michael Nutter, on Friday had warned anyone who lives near flood-prone areas to get out by midafternoon Sunday.
