In championship soccer results:
Boys Public League Championship: Northeast knocked off top-seeded Franklin Towne Charter, 1–0, to win its first Public League soccer title since 2007. Andy Jean-Pierre’s goal late in the second half gave retiring coach Sam Feldman one final championship to celebrate together. Northeast will play the winner of tonight’s Father Judge-La Salle game in the city championship game on Friday.
Boys Catholic League Championship: Father Judge and La Salle will play for the Catholic League title tonight (Thursday) at 6 p.m. at Archbishop Ryan. The winner will face Northeast in the city title game tomorrow night.
Girls Public League Championship: Franklin Towne Charter won its second straight championship, getting a late goal from explosive scoring junior Rachel Gilborges in its 1–0 win over Central. Towne and Archbishop Ryan will play for the city championship this evening (the Ragdolls knocked off Towne 5–0 during the regular season). It will be a match-up of two teams with just two losses between them all season.
Girls Catholic League Championship: Archbishop Ryan capped its incredible, unbeaten season with a 3–1 win over Lansdale Catholic in Wednesday night’s championship game, and will play Franklin Towne in tonight’s city championship game.
