A special delivery from the police

Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5 president John McNesby and attorney James J. Binns last week led a caravan of police vehicles and motorcycles that delivered full-course Thanksgiving dinners to more than a dozen families of officers killed or seriously injured in the line of duty.

The FOP and Binns have been donating dinners to families during the Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays since 2008.

The caravan consists of police personnel from the tri-state area.

Deliveries were made on Nov. 20 and 21. On the first day, following breakfast at Café La Maude in Northern Liberties, visits were made to the families of fallen police officers Stephen Liczbinski and Gary Skerski of Philadelphia, Joseph L. Szczerba of New Castle County (Del.) and Chris Jones of Middletown, Bucks County.

The second day started with a breakfast for the widows, parents and riders at Sunnybrook Golf Club in Plymouth Meeting.

Deliveries were then made to the families of fallen officers Brad Fox of Plymouth Township and John Pawlowski, Brian Lorenzo, Chuck Cassidy, Timothy Simpson, Isabel Nazario, Patrick McDonald, Andrew Stackwicz and Moses Walker of Philadelphia. The group also stopped at the Bustleton home of John Marynowitz, who was critically injured in a 1993 shooting that claimed the life of his partner, Robert Hayes. ••
