Santa Claus will celebrate the grand reopening of the Holmesburg branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia.
The library closed on Oct. 12 so crews could repair the inside of the building.
The interior of the building, built in 1907 and located at 7810 Frankford Ave. (at Hartel Avenue), experienced water damage and had a small amount of mold. A crew previously repaired the roof and performed brick-pointing work on the outside. Inside, crews scraped and cleaned plaster, repainted the ceiling and cleaned the rugs.
The library reopened on Nov. 19, two weeks behind schedule. The delay was caused by work stoppages due to Hurricane Sandy.
Santa Claus will come to town on Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. He will pose for pictures and read stories. Kids can make arts and crafts and will be treated to cookies and candy canes.
Santa’s visit is sponsored by the Friends of Holmesburg Library. For more information, call 215–685–8756. ••
