7th Police District officers honored

Officers Randy Vogt and Alfred Fiorentino were named Officers of the Month for November during the monthly meeting of the 7th Police District Advisory Council on Dec. 20.

On Nov. 1, Vogt and Fiorentino arrested a woman who allegedly threatened a neighbor with a .38-caliber revolver in a dispute over the victim’s baby. The woman with the gun complained that the baby was making too much noise, police said.

On Nov. 14, the same two officers arrested a man shortly after he allegedly robbed two area stores at gunpoint. Vogt and Fiorentino spotted the suspect riding a bicycle near Grant Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard. When they approached him, the suspect allegedly reached for his belt as if to grab a gun. The officers tackled him and recovered a black BB gun from his possession. The man later confessed to three additional gunpoint robberies in the Northeast, police said. ••
