The Lawncrest Community Association recently held its annual Christmas party, welcoming neighbors and police officials for a night of live music and a feast of sandwiches from Fanshawe Deli.
The association congratulated Inspector Michael McCarrick on his promotion, and welcomed the new 2nd Police district commander, Capt. Frank Palumbo.
Mark Mroz, the community relations officer, distributed literature on various subjects at the Dec. 18 meeting. The police department urges motorists to lock their car doors and take their keys with them, even when making a quick trip into a convenience store.
Women should keep their zippered purses or handbags on their shoulders while they’re shopping, and not leave them in carts.
Other honored guests at the meeting included the three winners of the LCA’s Veterans Day essay contest. The students were asked to write on the subject, “Are You Proud of Your Country?” The winners were NiLiza Johnson, of Benjamin Franklin Elementary School, and Julia Chiango and Kylie Gibson, of Tacony Academy Charter High School.
