A Frankford warehouse was home to a million-dollar indoor marijuana farm before Philadelphia police raided the site on Jan. 2, according to published reports.
The police department’s official information office declined to release details of the nighttime raid, claiming that the FBI conducted the probe. FBI sources told the Northeast Times that their agency was not involved.
A Philadelphia Daily News report stated that members of the police department’s Narcotics Field Unit pulled 77 pot plants out of the building on Unity Street near Penn Street. The high-potency crop would have commanded $1.5 million if sold on the street, the paper said, citing undisclosed police sources.
The paper further reported that hundreds of prescription pills were also seized, and that three men and one woman were arrested in connection with the investigation. Their identities have not been revealed. ••
