City to hold information session tomorrow night on property taxes

Th session on the new property tax assessments will be held at Archbishop Ryan High School from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 14.

City government staffers will be at Archbishop Ryan High School, 11201 Academy Road, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, for a one-on-one, “drop-in” outreach session to help residents understand the new property tax assessment program — Actual Value Initiative — and how it might affect them.

Residents can learn how to apply for the Homestead Exemption, how to read their Assessment Change Notice and how to complete their First Level Review request form. Residents should bring their Assessment Change Notice, Homestead Exemption form and First Level Review form, which were mailed to residents beginning Feb. 15. Information will also be available on other tax-relief programs. For more information about AVI, property owners can call the Office of Property Assessment hotline at 215–686–9200 or go online to www.phila.gov/opa.
