Marvin Barrish, who hosted a political show on various radio shows since 2007, died last week. He was 71.
Barrish lived in Bell’s Corner when he started the show. When he moved to the Glendale Uptown Home in Rhawnhurst, he conducted interviews from his bedside.
In earlier years, he operated newsstands in Center City. A shooting left him paralyzed from the waist down, and he later lost both legs to diabetes.
In recent months, his health declined. He died on March 25. Services were private.
On his show, he interviewed candidates for upcoming elections and organizers of charities and benefits.
Over the years, he received more than 75 awards from elected officials. Among the people who honored him were Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton, U.S. Sens. Arlen Specter and Harris Wofford, U.S. Reps. Bob Borski and Bob Brady, Govs. Bob Casey Sr. and Tom Ridge, and Mayors Frank L. Rizzo and Ed Rendell. ••
