Fatal shooting in Frankford

A Frankford man was killed in a hail of gunfire on a Frankford block late Monday as three robbers reportedly tried to invade the home of a couple and several children. Shortly after 10 p.m., three gunmen showed up at a home on the 5700 block of Leonard St. and tried to force their way inside. It’s not clear what prompted the gunfire.

Lamar Muldrow, 29, may have resisted the invasion attempt to allow his wife and five children to retreat to safety, according to broadcast news reports, which cited police sources. Officers found Muldrow with wounds of the chest and hip. He died less than an hour later at Temple University Hospital.

Detectives recovered about a dozen empty shell casings at the scene. No other injuries were reported. The unknown gunmen fled. No descriptions have been released. ••
