Police Officers Michael Murphy and Mary Luce-Caterino were recognized as Officers of the Month for the 7th district during an award presentation ceremony at the 7th Police District Advisory Council meeting on April 18.
Murphy and Luce-Caterino captured an assault suspect who allegedly had broken into a house and used a pocketknife to threaten a woman and paramedic.
The arrest occurred on March 11. The officers were called to a residence on the 14200 block of Bustleton Ave. at about 7 p.m. in response to a report of an assault in progress. When they arrived, they saw a paramedic chasing and then struggling with a man. The officers handcuffed the man after the paramedic reported that the suspect had attacked a woman inside the residence.
The officers allegedly found a three-inch folding knife in the suspect’s pocket. The woman claimed that the suspect had entered her home without permission and threatened to “slice her throat.” The officers arrested the man on charges of burglary, trespassing, assault and related offenses. ••
