An image of the burglar caught on tape.
A petty crook picked the wrong Northwood home to burglarize on Sunday.
Sometime that morning, the unknown perpetrator broke into the unoccupied single house on the 4800 block of Castor Ave. by smashing then climbing through a rear first-floor window. Minutes later, he fled the house with an iPad and a decorative blanket.
He probably figured he made a clean getaway, too. Unfortunately for him, the house belongs to a Philadelphia police inspector and has security cameras on all sides.
Detectives recovered video of the crime and posted it on the Philadelphia Police channel on YouTube.com. The burglar is being described as white, 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall with brown hair, a white T-shirt, dark pants and gray sneakers. Call 215–686-TIPS or text to PPD TIP to report information about him. ••
