A robber used a gun and a knife to hold up a Castor Gardens bar on Aug. 27, but not before he made a pit stop in the business’ restroom, Philadelphia police said.
The unknown man showed up at the Castor Bar, 6641 Castor Ave., at 7:12 a.m., as a barmaid opened the taproom for the day. The man initially brandished a handgun, but did not demand money. Instead, he asked to use the restroom. The employee obliged the request.
When the man returned to the bar area, he pulled out a knife and demanded cash. He pushed the barmaid out of the way and grabbed the contents of the register. Police did not disclose the amount taken. The robber was last seen fleeing north on Castor Avenue, then east on Unruh Street. He was described as white, about 30 years old, with red hair in a crew cut style. He wore a gray pullover hoodie, blue jeans and white sneakers.
