Nine displaced after Northeast apartment fire

Nine people were displaced Sept. 4 by a fire in a West Torresdale apartment building. No one was injured, said Executive Fire Chief Richard Davison.

The Red Cross provided housing for the six adults and three juveniles who lost their homes on the 9600 block of Ashton Road, the chief said.

The Fire Department got the call about the fire at 2:13 p.m on Sept. 4, and firefighters had it under control by 2:41 p.m., Davison said. The blaze began in one apartment in the two-story apartment building and then spread to another, he added.

The fire’s cause currently is under investigation. ••
