15th PDAC announces new community relations officer

There is a new community relations officer at the 15th Police District, members of the district’s advisory council learned at their Sept. 30 session. Officer Keisha Jacobs, with the department since 1998, is replacing Officer Sharon Krause, who has been the 15th’s CRO for several years and is now the district’s Compstat officer.

Krause got a round of applause from members.

“I tried to do my best,” she said.

Also at the Sept. 30 meeting, Michael Berkery and Ryan Powell were honored as officers of the month for August.

The two officers made 12 arrests in August. Five of those were for violations of the Uniform Firearms Act and were made in high-crime areas of the district.

Members said they will be hosting a Christmas dinner for police on Saturday, Dec. 7, and they’re also finalizing plans for the annual holiday party for kids. No date, time or place have been set yet for the kids’ party.

The 15th PDAC’s next meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, at the Mayfair Community Center on St. Vincent Street. ••
