A senior citizen fought off an armed robber outside a Bustleton bank on Sept. 20, but the victim suffered a bump on the head in the process.
The 65-year-old victim was attempting to withdraw money from the ATM at First Niagara Bank, 9700 Bustleton Ave., at about 8:14 p.m. when a man with a gun jumped him from behind. The robber poked the pistol into the man’s chest and demanded cash, police said.
When the victim resisted, the robber struck him on the head with the gun, knocking the man to the ground. The crook ran across Bustleton Avenue and fled in a silver Ford Taurus.
Police described the robber as black, 30 years old and 6 feet tall, with a black baseball cap, dark leather jacket and sneakers.
