Victim identified in fatal bus accident

Philadelphia police have released the identity of the woman who was struck and killed by a school bus on Frankford Avenue on Oct. 22, along with details of the tragedy.

Kristen Fink, 27, of the 4400 block of Decatur St. in Holmesburg, was attempting to walk across the 7300 block of Frankford Ave., near Aldine Street, at about 10:47 a.m. when a yellow 2002 Bluebird school bus struck her in the southbound right lane. Fink was crossing in the middle of the block, police said.

Fink became trapped under the right rear tire of the bus and suffered undisclosed injuries. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene at 11 a.m.

No children were aboard the bus at the time, police said, because the vehicle was being utilized to train new bus drivers. One trainee was behind the wheel, while four more trainees were passengers, along with one instructor, police said. No other injuries were reported.

Durham School Services owns the bus. No criminal charges were filed. ••
