15th District police officers are warning Tacony, Mayfair and Holmesburg residents about a man who is working a door-to-door con in their neighborhoods.
The man is telling people that he is trying to collect money to pay for his daughter’s medicine. Police have reports of nine attempts by the man, but only one was successful. He got $37 on the 4400 block of Disston St.
The con man’s also been on the 3500 block of Cottman, 4500 Knorr, 3200 block of Teesdale St., 3300 block of Guilford St., 2800 block of Rawle St., 3300 Brighton, 3100 block of Cottman and the 4500 block of Tudor St.
Police have a pretty good description of the guy. He’s a thin black man, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. He wears glasses. He drives a red Chevy Malibu with Pennsylvania tag JGM2244. ••
