St. Chris helps feed the hungry

A generous gift: Second-graders from St. Christopher School gather around 250 cans of soup that they donated for a food drive held Thanksgiving week. The food will go to the needy serviced by Nutritional Development Services. MARIA POUCHNIKOVA / TIMES PHOTO

Youngsters enrolled in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade were asked to bring non-perishable soup, vegetables, potatoes and fruit into school on Nov. 25 and 26. The Student Council gathered the donations and packaged them for delivery to the meals program.

Second-graders hosted the annual Thanksgiving Mass for the school and carried some of the donations in the opening procession to represent that they were also giving to Christ while performing corporal works of mercy.

Ms. Thompson and Mrs. Osborn were the faculty coordinators of the food drive. ••
