An East Torresdale man died on Christmas Eve four days after he was struck by a car while walking near his home.
Richard Affatato, 67, was crossing the 4700 block of Linden Ave. at about 5:15 p.m. when a westbound black 2006 Lincoln struck him. Affatato rolled onto the hood and windshield of the car, then to the ground. He suffered head injuries.
Emergency responders took the victim to Aria Health’s Torresdale Campus, where he died at about 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 24.
Police did not identify the motorist or report any other injuries. No criminal charges were filed.
Affatato, of the 9200 block of Hegerman St., was retired, according a personal friend, Paul DeFinis, but he often visited DeFinis’ State Auto Body shop at Torresdale and Solly avenues. Affatato was at the shop that afternoon, then got a ride to Torresdale and Linden shortly before the accident, DeFinis said. ••
