More than 500 lose power near Cottman and Brous

“An issue with an underground cable” before 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, cut power to 571 PECO customers who live near the intersection of Cottman and Brous avenues.

Power was restored to all but one of those customers by 11 p.m. on Monday, said PECO spokesman Greg Smore. Crews were working this morning to restore electric service to the lone customer still in the dark, he said.

The cable lost its load, or stopped carrying the flow of electricity, Smore said. Why that happened had not been determined by late morning today. ••
