Both had been shot in the back of the head. Donna was lying in a second-floor hallway, while Richard was in a bedroom. Paramedics pronounced them dead at the scene.

Chief Inspector Scott Small told news reporters that police found spent bullet casings at the scene. No weapon was recovered. The home showed no signs of forced entry. It didn’t appear as if any items were stolen. A motive for the slayings is not known.

Richard Muller reportedly worked in the kitchen at the Lafayette Redeemer home on Verree Road and had recently earned an associate’s degree from Manor College in Jenkintown. Both victims were Cardinal Dougherty High School graduates.

According to news reports, at least one neighbor said he heard commotion outside the Muller home during the previous night, although police have placed the time of the shooting at between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Police ask that anyone with information call 215–686-TIPS or text to PPDTIP. ••
