Crescentville often gets overlooked as a neighborhood. In fact, it’s often lumped together with nearby Lawndale and called “Lawncrest” in news media reports. But Crescentville is becoming very well-known among folks who monitor the city’s murder and gun violence problems.
The locale was the setting for three merciless slayings within six days recently, including the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old Willow Grove man last Friday evening.
The gunfire erupted at about 6:17 p.m. on the 5700 block of Weymouth St., police said. Linden Henry, 32, was sitting in the driver’s seat of a white Cadillac that was parked on the block when someone shot him in the left temple, shoulder and chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide investigators marked at least a dozen spots in the street where they found empty shell casings or other evidence. Police have released no information about a suspect or motive.
The site is about six blocks from the scene of the Jan. 19 double murder of a woman and her adult son inside their home.
It occurred sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the 300 block of Stevens St. The victims were Donna Muller, 49, and Richard Muller, 22. Both had been shot in the back of the head. A relative found their bodies on the second floor of the rowhome.
There were no signs of forced entry into the residence or a struggle. Nothing had been stolen. Police have not identified a suspect or motive. ••
