Suspects sought in three Frankford robberies

1301 Fillmore St.

Robbers targeted three small businesses in Frankford early this month. Now police are trying to identify the thugs.

The latest heist occurred at the Quicky Mart, 4346 Frankford Ave., on Feb. 15 and involved a gun. The crook entered the business at about 9:23 p.m., pointed a pistol at a clerk and demanded money. He fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and was seen traveling west on Unity Street. He was described as black, 35 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, with a black jacket, black pants, tan boots, black scarf and pink gloves with black stripes.

On Feb. 6 at about 10:20 p.m., a man entered the Great City restaurant at 5100 Frankford Ave. and approached the counter as if to order. When a clerk turned his back for a moment, the crook climbed over the countertop and tried to open the cash register, police said. Noticing the would-be theft, the employee tried to grab the man, who punched the clerk in the face and fled. He was last seen running north on Frankford Avenue toward Pratt Street.

The robber was described as black, 40 to 50 years old, 6 feet 4 inches tall and 230 pounds with a black hooded sweatshirt and a knit hat.

A similar crime occurred on Feb. 8 at about 11:22 a.m. at the Neighborhood Convenience Store, 1301 Fillmore St. According to police, an unknown man in a brown jacket entered the store, walked around a bit, then exited without making a purchase. A short time later, the same man re-entered the store wearing a black mask, gloves, a black jacket and black pants. The crook approached a cashier and handed her a demand note stating that he had a gun. When the employee attempted to shield her children from the thug, he grabbed her and forced her to open the register while continuing to indicate he had a concealed gun, police said. The robber obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen running eastbound from Oakland Street through the rear alley of 1300 Fillmore. He was described as black, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 170 to 180 pounds.
