Power outage in Frankford

The lights went out in the Frankford branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia about 6:15 p.m. Monday as patrons were checking out books and PhillyRising was conducting a session in the library’s basement meeting room.

It wasn’t just the library that went dark. More than 800 customers in and around the 4600 block of Frankford Avenue lost power when a fault in an underground line disrupted the flow of electricity, said PECO spokesman Greg Smore. The utility rerouted power around the problem and power was restored at shortly after 7 p.m. Monday. ••
