Robbers grab $10K from Target

Surveillance photo

Three robbers made off with about $10,000, maybe more, from a Somerton Target store after ambushing employees inside the business minutes after closing time on Saturday night.

The crooks entered the store, at 11000 Roosevelt Blvd., during business hours and ducked into a bathroom until workers had locked the doors at 10 p.m. That’s when the bandits returned to the sales floor, and one of them pointed a gun at employees while demanding the key to the safe, police said.

When the clerks informed the robbers that they couldn’t open the safe, one of the crooks emptied contents of the cash registers into a bag carried by one of his cohorts. Meanwhile, the third crook kept employees under the gun.

While the registers had logged at least $30,000 in sales, perhaps more, only about $10,000 was in cash, a police source said. The rest was in credit card receipts. The store was to conduct an audit to determine the actual amount of the loss. The robbers fled on foot toward the Haldeman Manor Apartments on the 10000 block of Haldeman Ave.

One robber was described as black, 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a dark complexion. He wore glasses, a black hoodie bearing the slogan “Make the dream real,” gray pants and green sneakers. He had a silver handgun.

A second was described as black with a light complexion. He wore a gray hoodie, dark pants, a fake beard and gray Nike AirMax sneakers. He carried a dark backpack. He changed from the gray sweatshirt to a red one during the robbery.

The third robber was described as black with a dark complexion. He wore a dark hat, gray hoodie with white and red printing, along with gray pants.
