Philadelphia police are still seeking information about two unidentified gunmen who invaded a Northeast Philadelphia woman’s apartment and assaulted her sexually for more than three hours on April 14.
The attackers also robbed the 20-year-old victim, who was able to provide their descriptions to police.
She was sleeping on a couch in her unit of the St. Ives Apartments at about 2 a.m. when two men burst through her front door and woke her. The apartment building is on Riverside Drive near Stewarts Way, along the Woodhaven Road Expressway. One of the intruders pointed a gun at the woman, then they both assaulted her multiple times, police said. The attackers stole an undisclosed amount of cash and personal belongings before leaving the apartment at about 5:30 a.m. That’s when the victim called 911.
Investigators are unsure how the intruders gained access through the building’s external security doors before breaking into the victim’s apartment. One crook was described as black, 5 feet 11 inches tall and in his mid-20s with a light complexion, thin build, small goatee beard and multiple neck tattoos. His accomplice was described as black, 5 feet 9 inches tall and in his mid-20s, with a dark complexion, bald and clean-shaven.
