This year’s first-place winner was Joseph Warchal, a student at St. Christopher School in Somerton.

Andrew McShea, from Kennedy Crossan in Burholme, received second place. Stephanie Alampi, from Maternity BVM in Bustleton, was awarded third place. The contest received more than 200 applicants.

“Judging these essays was no easy feat,” Boyle said. “I am proud to say that the entries we received from students across the district demonstrated a commitment toward learning our nation’s history, and a high level of writing and research that shows promise for our community. I commend every student for the work they put forward in this contest.” ••
