Barely two days after the family of mother-son murder victims gathered inside a Lawncrest church to plead for an end to local violence, gunshots wounded two more people just five blocks away.
This time, bullets struck a 12-year-old boy and 21-year-old man on the 500 block of Van Kirk St. According to police, officers went to the scene at 9:08 p.m. in response to reports of a person with a gun. They found the boy in the street with a graze wound of the left thigh. He was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and listed in stable condition.
The 21-year-old was inside the Pronto Pizza shop at 5809 Rising Sun Ave. He had an entry wound of the right upper chest and exit wound of the upper back. Police took him to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.
Detectives are looking for two black males in their late teens in connection with the assault. One wore all black clothing and the other wore camouflage. Police did not release information about a possible motive. Call 215–686-TIPS or text to PPDTIP to report information.
On Wednesday afternoon about five blocks north of the shooting scene, the family of Donna and Richard Muller gathered at St. William Church to ask for an end to violence and for information to help police identify the person who shot the mother and son inside their Stevens Street house on Jan. 19. ••
