Three NE residents receive Team Excellence Awards

Teamwork: Amy Scheuer (second from left) was honored by the Philadelphia Children’s Alliance on May 1.

The Philadelphia Children’s Alliance recognized three Northeast residents during PCA’s annual Bear Affair fundraiser on May 1 at The Crystal Tea Room in Center City.

Police Capt. John Darby of the Special Victims Unit, Police Detective Thomas Price of the Child Abuse Unit and Amy Scheuer of the Department of Human Services’ Sex Abuse Investigations Unit were each named as recipients of the 2014 Team Excellence Award. John Kennedy Dealerships, Qlik Technologies and Aon sponsored the awards, which are presented each year to PCA’s most dedicated team members.

The annual Bear Affair has raised $169,000 to support PCA and the work it does for the city’s child sexual abuse victims. More than 500 attendees each brought a Teddy bear to the event so that every child who walks through the door at PCA can be given a bear that they can take home. ••
