Surveillance photo, Tacony bank robbery
A robber held up a Burholme bank for the second time this month, just one day after a different bandit robbed another bank in Tacony. The FBI and Philadelphia police seek the public’s help in solving both crimes.
The latest heist occurred at about 1:10 p.m. Thursday at Citizens Bank, 7248 Rising Sun Ave., when a man handed a demand note to a teller that indicated he had a gun. The teller did not see the weapon, but complied with the demand. The robber fled in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of cash. Authorities think that the same robber struck the same branch on March 3.
He was described as black with a dark complexion, in his early 20s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 160 to 170 pounds. He wore a dark blue zip-up hoodie, gray sweatpants, a gray baseball cap and latex gloves.
Last Wednesday, a different robber struck at the Citizens Bank at 6271 Frankford Ave. The crook entered the branch at about 9:32 a.m. and threatened a teller verbally, claiming he had a gun. The teller surrendered an undisclosed amount of cash. The robber was last seen fleeing southbound on Mulberry Street.
He was described as white, in his late 30s or early 40s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, medium build and balding with grayish-blue eyes and a cut on the bridge of his nose. He wore a black sweatshirt and blue jeans with a red stain on the back of the right leg.
