Glen Foerd regatta set for June 17

Get a wiggle on and visit Glen Foerd’s Roaring ’20s Regatta on Tuesday, June 17, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Glen Foerd on the Delaware, 5001 Grant Ave.

The Racing Fleet of the Delaware River Yacht Club will sail the river as visitors dine riverside enjoying the speakeasy-style music of the 1920s.

Early birds can wager on the yacht race, while The Gin Canaries set the mood with live music. Visitors are invited to dress the part by “puttin’ on the ritz” in ’20s style.

The cost is $40 per person, which does not include the cash bar. Dinner and dancing will be held in the Riverside Pavilion, so the event will be rain or shine. Reservations should be made by June 12. Visit www.glenfoerd.org or call 215–632–5330. ••

Boogie-Woogie Ball is Saturday

The Philadelphia Protestant Home, 6500 Tabor Ave. in Lawndale, will hold the Boogie-Woogie Ball on Saturday, June 14, at 7 p.m. in its social hall.

All ages are welcome to enjoy a night of music and dancing. Light refreshments will be served.

Steppin’ up at the vets home

Toe Tappers, a Doylestown-based tap dance troupe, will put on a special Flag Day show at the Delaware Valley Veterans Home at Southampton and the Boulevard at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 13. This will be the second performance by the Tappers at the vets’ home.

“We are thrilled to give back once again to the vets,” said Dorothy Prisco, the Tappers’ public relations director. “We end our show with a special tribute to all veterans, including the vets who are members of our Toe Tappers group. We want to bring attention to our vets so that others will donate their services to making our veteran heroes’ lives happier.” ••

String band to perform

Ferko String Band will perform on Thursday, June 12, at 7:15 p.m. as part of the Philadelphia Protestant Home’s 16th annual summer concert.

The concert will take place in the social hall of PPH, 6500 Tabor Ave. in Lawndale.

Father’s Day Car Show is Sunday

The Radisson Hotel, at 2400 Old Lincoln Highway in Trevose, will hold a Father’s Day Car Show on Sunday.

The car show will begin at 8 a.m. It is free for guests and $15 for entries. Prizes will be awarded to winners, and all entries will receive a goody bag.

Brunch will be served at 10 a.m. The cost is $28, or $18 for kids 4–12. A portion of the proceeds will go to the survivors’ fund for Philadelphia and Bucks County police organizations.

Program at Overington Park

Neighbors can come out and meet the people who keep Overington Park green. The meet-and-greet pot-luck picnic is slated for noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, at the park, at Leiper and Orthodox streets.

There will be music, food and fun, including a salsa contest. Bring your best. ••
