Police hope video will help ID burglar

Surveillance photo

A burglar broke into an Oxford Circle meat store and stole a cash register drawer on June 8. Now police are trying to identify the bandit with the help of surveillance video.

The burglary occurred at about 2:11 a.m. at Don Pedro Meats, 6047 Castor Ave., police said. The store’s alarm system sounded, but the crook was nowhere to be found when police arrived at the scene. The business had a broken front window. The interior had been ransacked.

Surveillance video shows the burglar attempting to open the register, then ripping the cash drawer from inside the clerk’s counter. He fled in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of cash.

He was described as black, 20 years old, dark hair, facial hair, with a white tank top, sweat pants and tattoos on his right shoulder and right elbow. Visit the Philadelphia Police channel on YouTube.com to view the video. Call 215–686-TIPS or text to PPD TIP to report information. ••
